2020 Remembrance Sunday & Armistice Day in Rowlands Castle Posted November 10, 2020 by Lisa Walker

Even though current pandemic restrictions under Lockdown2 meant members of the community couldn’t gather as normal for Remembrance Sunday, we were still able to pay our respects in a collective yet socially-distanced way. On Sunday 8 November 2020 local churches held on-line Services of Remembrance for their congregations. A small group of invited representatives gathered at 11am to lay wreaths at the War Memorial on Redhill Road. At the same time, people gathered on The Green to witness Flag Mistress, Barbara Openshaw, lower the union flag for a 2-minute silence to honour those who gave their lives for this country.

Then on Armistice Day, Wednesday 11 November, there was a further gathering by the community to witness the lowering of the union flag and take part in a 2-minute silence at 11am.
