On 7th May 2026 there will be a by-Election to fill a Parish Councillor casual vacancy. Please see the below process to follow should you be interested in standing:
1. Nomination papers must be delivered to the Returning Officer at East Hants District Council, Monterey House, Bedford Road, Petersfield, Hampshire, GU32 3LJ between 9am and 5pm on any working day from the date of publication of this notice (excluding bank holidays) but no later than 4pm on Thursday 9th April 2026.
2. Nomination papers may be obtained from the offices of the Returning Officer, East Hants District Council, Monterey House, Bedford Road, Petersfield, Hampshire, GU32 3LJ during the times stated above.
3. If any election is contested the poll will take place on 07/05/2026.
4. Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 12 midnight on Monday 20th April 2026. Applications can be made online: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
5. Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at East Hants District Council, Monterey House, Bedford Road, Petersfield, Hampshire, GU32 3LJ by 5 pm on 21st April 2026. Applications can be made online: https://www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote
6. Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate or an Anonymous Elector’s Document valid for this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on 28th April 2026. 7. Applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at East Hants District Council, Monterey House, Bedford Road, Petersfield, Hampshire, GU32 3LJ by 5 pm on 28th April 2026. Some applications can be made online: https://www.gov.uk/apply-proxy-vote
8. Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at East Hants District Council, Monterey House, Bedford Road, Petersfield, Hampshire, GU32 3LJ by 5 pm on 7th May 2026.
